While the 3rd and 4th year students majoring in 141 "Electric Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics" are carrying out a joint research project with German colleagues, in September 2018, our colleague from Wroclaw University of Technology (Poland), Prof. Grzegorz Kosobudski, who has already visited Dnipro Polytechnic for the second time this calendar year, gave a course of lectures on "Electromagnetic Compatibility in Power Supply Systems" for the 2nd year students within the framework of the Erasmus+ program. This shows the high interest of foreign colleagues from European higher education institutions in cooperation with our university.

2018 year

National Technical University "Dnipro Polytechnic" is actively developing international cooperation with leading European universities.

From September 23 to 30, 2018, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering is holding the 1st Engineering and Start-Up Summer School - 2018 with the participation of two German technical universities - the University of Applied Sciences in Reutlingen and the University of Applied Sciences in Esslingen. The students of the Department of Power Supply and Electric Drive Systems together with their German colleagues participate in two projects related to improving the energy efficiency of technological installations and the rational construction of decentralized power supply systems for consumers. The results achieved in such a short period of time are impressive due to the application of project management techniques and the effective division of tasks and responsibilities between several teams, which results in conditions that are as close as possible to those of a real-life enterprise or company. Additionally, participants are taught to think creatively and find interesting solutions to important problems by creating their own startups, justifying them, and implementing them to meet the needs of the target audience.

2016 year

From October 9 to 16, 2016, a group of 14 students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering under the guidance of Associate Professors of the Department of Power Supply Systems Yurii Khatskevych and Ihor Lutsenko took a week-long lecture and practical course at two leading technical universities in Germany - Reutlingen and Esslingen Universities of Applied Sciences. This trip was made possible thanks to a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), which Associate Professors Lutsenko and Hatskevych received as part of the educational project "Strengthening Cooperation between German and Ukrainian Educational Institutions in the Field of Electrical Engineering".

The political and economic crisis that has been taking place in Ukraine in recent years has greatly complicated international academic contacts. For an ordinary Ukrainian student or researcher, attending a European educational institution is becoming increasingly difficult. In turn, European students and scholars have much more doubts about security and stability in Ukraine, so they visit our country much less than they did 2-3 years ago. At the same time, experience shows that successful cooperation begins with positive personal contact. There is a need to show German and Ukrainian students the wide opportunities for cooperation in the field of scientific or research projects. For scientists, such visits are the best opportunity to find promising areas of joint research. That is why such projects are of paramount importance for the participating universities.

Ukraine today faces numerous challenges in various spheres of life. The education system is one of the most important areas that must be changed for the country's development. One of the necessary steps for sustainable development is to improve the quality and qualifications of graduates and their orientation towards European standards through participation in joint research and training projects. Electrical engineering, including energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, is one of the most important sectors for the Ukrainian economy. Therefore, the exchange of experience and strengthening of cooperation with German educational institutions in this area of research is crucial for us.

The National Mining University is actively involved in international scientific and research projects. Reutlingen and Esslingen Universities of Applied Sciences have been our partners since the 1990s.

The goal of the internship was to increase the number of scientists and students participating in joint research and educational projects.

The participants also had the opportunity to analyze scientific areas, their skills and competencies, common and distinctive features in the curricula, and get acquainted with the equipment of electrical laboratories.

The course of lectures on modern achievements in the electric power industry and forecasting future trends from professors of European universities allowed both students and teachers to form a certain worldview and orientation towards the topics of future research and development.

Excursions to production facilities were interesting from the point of view of professional growth: students visited a German company producing toy electrified railways (Märklin, Esslingen) and a modern cogeneration power plant (FairEnergie, Reutlingen).

Additionally, all participants had the opportunity to practice communicating in English with German colleagues, broadened their cultural outlook, and visited a significant number of historical sites and architectural heritage in Germany.

The beginning of the internship coincided with the end of the Oktoberfest festival, to which the management of the University of Reutlingen invited our students. The participants experienced a surprisingly friendly atmosphere and immersed themselves in the flavor of German traditions.

Another unforgettable and fascinating excursion was to the 8-story Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, where they learned about the history of the German automotive giant's origins and development.

The main results of the study tour were:

 - establishing new contacts between students and teachers of German educational institutions and NMU;

 - ideas for new joint research projects;

 - support for foreign partners in developing educational cooperation projects in the future.
